Right on the Florida peninsula’s west coast, the small coastal city of Crystal River is an idyllic community bathed in the region’s natural beauty. The namesake river flows from nearby springs at a constant 72 degrees, attracting manatees in the cooler months and tourists year-round. The city itself is a timeless slice of Old Florida, with historic buildings and low-key neighborhood cafes and bars scattered throughout. Tampa, Orlando, and Gainesville are all easily within day-trip distance, giving you prime access to central Florida’s most exciting and distinctive cities.. Kings Bay, which is fed by springs, is home to the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, sheltering manatees year-round. Boardwalks at Three Sisters Springs Wildlife Refuge offer views of the marine mammal and the natural springs. Northwest is Crystal River Archaeological State Park, with remains of an early Native American settlement, including ceremonial mounds. ― Google
